When did wristwatches appear?

The first wristwatch, adorned with diamonds and rubies, was presented in 1571 to the English Queen Elizabeth I. But it was unlikely that they were a good time meter, since the balancing mechanism had not yet been invented. It appeared in wristwatches only in 1657.

Until the end of the 19th century, such watches remained almost exclusively women's jewelry, and men continued to use pocket watches. The situation began to change during the British colonial wars. Pocket chronometers were inconvenient and even dangerous in combat. And after the First World War, they were completely replaced by wristwatches.
